Volunteering at The Haven
The Haven is always in need of volunteers, and has many opportunities available throughout the year.
Adopt a Room: Adopt a room here at the shelter to refurbish and decorate. Groups who have participated in the Adopt A Room project have include Kappa Alpha Theta at Wofford College, AKA sorority, South Carolina Legal Aid, and CATS. This opportunity is perfect for large groups!
Childcare: We are actively searching for caring individuals to provide supervision and activities for children from 8:30a-10:00a, Monday through Friday, while parents attend Daily Living Skills educational classes.
Special repairs / clean up projects: We are seeking individuals or groups to help with repairs, cleaning, and organizing. We have all types of jobs in this category, from taking broken items to the dump to exterior house painting and cleaning the gutters (professional contractors only). If you like to roll up your sleeves when you volunteer, this opportunity is for you! We’re also looking for landscapers and carpenters for help around the property.
Tutors: If you are good with math, science, English, or any other subject, our kids need your help with homework!
Special activity volunteers: If you or your group has a special hobby, skill, or talent you’d like to share with our beneficiaries, we want to hear from you! Come prepare a meal, do a craft with the kids, or lead a fun exercise class with the adults. We want you to share the things that you love to do with The Haven!
